Wasamon Sanasen

Biography

Wasamon Sanasen is a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. She won Ph.D. Turkish scholarship in 2015 and received her PhD in Art History from Istanbul University in 2021. Wasamon was granted The Outstanding Graduate Award in the field of Art and Culture by Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). Her fields of interest are Islamic art and art history. She is recognized in Thailand as a scholar who introduced Islamic art study to the country. Apart from being a lecturer at the university, Wasamon is also an invited speaker for several organizations to give lectures on the art of the Muslim world. Wasamon authored many book chapters, articles and proceedings, both in Thailand and in other countries. Some of her prominent works are “A Study on Decoration Motifs of Ottoman Charity Fountain”, İstanbul Yazıları (Kriter, 2022), “The Funeral Architecture of Muslims in Thailand”, Tayland Çalışmaları I (APAM Ankara University, 2021) and "Mihrab of Tonson Mosque: Muslim Identity Through Thai Traditional Art”, Damrong Journal Silpakorn University 14, 1(2015): 97-124. Now Wasamon is working on her own book about Islamic art.
