Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohamed Jawhar

Biography

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohamed Jawhar has had a distinguished career in both government and academia. Starting in the Malaysian Government, he held several key positions, including Director of Analysis in the Prime Minister’s Department and Director General of the Department of National Unity. He also served as a Counselor in Malaysia’s missions in Jakarta and Bangkok. After retiring early from government service, he joined ISIS Malaysia as Deputy Director-General in 1990 and eventually became its Chairman and Chief Executive until 2015. He has also held leadership roles as Chairman of The New Straits Times Press and board member positions at Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (EKUINAS) and Affin Bank Berhad. Currently, Tan Sri Jawhar is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund and an Adjunct Professor at the Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya. Internationally, he has represented Malaysia in the ASEAN Regional Forum and is a member of the Asia Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament. Throughout his career, he has presented numerous papers on security issues and contributed articles to various publications.
