Biography

Associate Prof. Dr Rahimin Affandi Bin Abdul Rahim is an Associate Professor at the Department of Fqh and Usul, Academy of Islamic Studies. He obtained his MPhil from St Andrews University, Scotland and his PhD From Birmingham University UK. His areas of study are Syariah Studies in Malaysia, the Sociology of Islamic Law and Islamic Law Reform. He teaches Schools of thought in Islamic Law in Southeast Asia, Shariah studies and Orientalism. His research grants are from the Islamic Museum Pahang, Centre of Malay Excellence, Universiti Malaya Research Grant, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka as well as a few state government grants. His latest research includes the role of the Islamic authority and its impact towards Malay Muslims in Malaysia, Museums and Postcolonialism. He wrote several books and articles in the field of syariah (Islamic law) as well as Islamic history in the Malay world.
